It’s nice to know when developers are looking after their products and even better when they look after their players. iOS games are always in need of fixes and patches but some developers go above and beyond and improve on their games and take consumer advice to heart, holiday periods are always a good time for gamers and Christmas is where we see some of the big changes, where developers show their fans some appreciation and here are two great examples.

Hay Day

Already a popular title with a great deal of content, Hay Day has just received a huge update with some nice visual touches. Your farmland has been given a winter makeover, frost on the grass and characters and animals rugging up for the cold.

On top of this though, players are treated to extra content, new plants and a new kiosk to build with more produce options and for long term players who may have found their property a little cramped, you can now buy expansion lots. These require you to collect some rare items in order to claim them. Already a strong game socially, a new feature has been introduced in which you can ask your neighbors to help you fill out your barge orders, especially helpful for items that take a long time to produce but also a handy way to earn more money by helping your friends.

Royal Revolt!

Royal Revolt! has also received a massive update, 2 new spells to add to your arsenal and the ability to level your hero, spells and units beyond level 9, prices have also been adjusted to cater for this, now a great deal cheaper allowing you to upgrade more often and make faster progress. A whole new storyline has also been added with a new villain.

To accompany your new quest, an amazing 20 brand new levels have been added, almost doubling the size of the original game, and they are hard, getting 3 stars will pose quite a challenge. Level design has been tweaked to force you to use different unit types, towers for instance are placed out of reach of swords so you’ll need to invest in archers or catapults to take them down and traps are more challenging to deactivate, putting your hero in danger to take care of them. The existing challenge levels can now earn you stars as well and the old point system is gone, replaced with a star leader board. A few new Game Centre achievements have been added as well.

Both of these updates should provide hours of play for new and old players alike, a nice addition going into the holiday period when everyone is looking for a new time killer.
